The convincing invoice
An invoice arrives that looks like it's from a supplier you know, with familiar branding and a plausible amount. The only difference is the bank account.
See how we reduce this riskFraudsters don't need to hack your bank. They only need one convincing email asking you to pay a "new" account. Travel Ledger takes supplier bank details out of that process, so there is far less for them to change.

Banks have become better at stopping unauthorised payments. So criminals have changed tactics: they persuade a genuine member of staff to send the money themselves.
Authorised push payment fraud losses in the UK rose 19% to £576.4 million in 2025, according to UK Finance's Annual Fraud Report 2026. UK Finance warns that criminals are using AI to make these scams more convincing and more targeted.
Travel businesses are an obvious target. You pay many suppliers, often in large sums, on tight deadlines, with invoices that arrive by email.

Every scenario above ends the same way: someone keys bank details from an email into a bank transfer. Travel Ledger is built so that step isn't needed for connected suppliers.
Your team still approves and manages supplier payments. Travel Ledger simply removes the need to obtain, store and re-key supplier bank details.
Pay connected suppliers through TL Pay without manually entering, storing or updating supplier bank details for every supplier relationship. A doctored PDF has no bank details for a fraudster to change.
Payments are funded into a dedicated account held in your business's name, not an account a supplier email points you to.
Funds are held for a set period and settled with the connected supplier recorded on the shared ledger.
Trade Buyers and Trade Sellers see the same payment status, accepted balances and settlement position. A mismatch is visible to both, before money moves.
Explore Reconciliation & ReportingWhere a supplier isn't connected, TL Virtual Cards let you set limits, validity and supplier controls. A single-use card is created for one payment, so its number is no use elsewhere.
Explore TL Virtual CardsMultiple users with different access levels means finance, operations and management each see what they need, with no single password shared around the office.
Most businesses that suffer payment fraud said the same thing the week before. Here's how we'd answer the three things we hear most.
They're probably a big reason why.
But a careful, trusted person with authority to pay is exactly who these scams are designed to fool. A good fake invoice uses real names, real references and a real email thread. Travel Ledger doesn't replace their judgement; it backs it up, so the process does the checking even on their busiest day. It also means payments don't stop when they're on holiday, because access is shared by role, not held by one person.
It works until the details change.
A bank transfer goes to whatever account details you enter, and once you have authorised a payment it can be very hard to recover. Fraudsters don't need to break bank transfer or Direct Debit. They only need to convince you that a supplier's details have changed. With TL Pay, connected suppliers are paid without you entering or updating their bank details at all. UK mandatory APP fraud reimbursement protections apply to individuals, microenterprises and charities. Larger travel businesses may therefore have no automatic right to reimbursement if they authorise a fraudulent payment.
One card number, everywhere.
One physical card usually means one card number read over the phone, saved on supplier websites and shared between colleagues. If it's compromised, every payment on it is exposed, and a cancelled card mid-season stops everything. TL Virtual Cards give each payment or supplier its own card with its own limit and validity, keep card activity visible within Travel Ledger and support reconciliation. You can also earn cashback on eligible supplier payments, subject to supplier acceptance and terms.
Pay suppliers without handling their bank details
Connected suppliers are paid through TL Pay, eligible off-platform suppliers by controlled TL Virtual Card, and each team member gets the access their role needs.
Explore Trade BuyersProtect your agents from fake payment instructions
When agents pay you through Travel Ledger, they don't need to rely on bank details sent by email. Your payment destination is already established within the network, helping prevent fraudsters from impersonating your business and redirecting payments.
Explore Trade SellersEvery supplier you pay through TL Pay is one less set of bank details your team has to trust. Here's how to extend that protection.
Connect more suppliers. Still paying some suppliers by bank transfer? Speak to our team about connecting them to Travel Ledger.
Cover off-platform suppliers. Activate TL Virtual Cards from your TL Pay dashboard by selecting “Add new payment method”, so suppliers outside the network are paid by controlled card rather than bank transfer.
Give everyone their own access. Add colleagues with the access level their role needs, instead of sharing one login.
Be wary of any request to pay outside Travel Ledger.
If a connected supplier emails or calls asking you to pay a bank account instead, treat it as suspicious. Check with the supplier using contact details you already hold, and contact our support team before you pay.
Fraudsters often pose as suppliers. When an agent's payment goes to a fraudster, you still haven't been paid, and you're left chasing it. Encouraging your agents to pay you through Travel Ledger takes bank-detail emails out of the relationship.
“We will never ask you to change our bank details by email or phone. Please pay us through Travel Ledger. If you receive a request to pay us any other way, contact us using details you already hold before paying.”
Travel Ledger's banking partner is Adyen, which supports integrated banking and TL Virtual Card capabilities. Certain account, card and electronic money services are provided by regulated third-party partners.
