TMU Management partners with Travel Ledger to protect supplier payments

Travel Ledger Premium now includes payment protection provided through TMU Management's travel distribution cover. It helps eligible Trade Sellers manage the risk of agent failure while supporting more workable credit and settlement terms.

Travel Ledger has partnered with TMU Management to embed supplier payment protection into Travel Ledger Premium, our optional protection-led plan for eligible Trade Sellers.

The partnership brings together TMU Management's travel distribution cover and Travel Ledger's specialist settlement platform, which automates billing, reconciliation and settlement between Trade Buyers and Trade Sellers. Protection is available to participating Premium suppliers and applies to qualifying payments if a Trade Buyer defaults or goes out of business before settlement is completed, subject to eligibility, terms and exclusions.

Why it matters

Suppliers have traditionally managed the risk of agent failure through upfront payments, tighter credit terms or additional financial security. These measures protect suppliers, but they can tie up agents' cash and limit their ability to grow.

Building protection into the settlement process changes that balance. Suppliers gain more confidence when extending credit, and agents gain a route to fairer, more workable trading terms.

What it means for Trade Sellers

  • Protection on qualifying payments: Premium adds a layer of protection to qualifying payments moving through Travel Ledger settlement.
  • One combined subscription: participating suppliers pay a single amount covering data exchange, collection services and protection, rather than paying separately for each.
  • More confidence to extend credit: suppliers can offer terms to agents whose default risk is covered under the framework.

What it means for Trade Buyers

  • Potential for lighter security requirements: where participating suppliers are covered, agents may face reduced collateral or upfront payment requirements.
  • Better working capital: less cash tied up in deposits and security means more room to grow.

Credit and payment terms remain a matter for each supplier and its trade partners.

Built into settlement, not bolted on

Travel Ledger and TMU Management worked together on underwriting criteria, data-sharing processes, risk triggers and transaction monitoring, so that protection runs alongside settlement without slowing it down.

Because Travel Ledger already gives both sides one shared record of payment, settlement and remittance data, the information needed to support protection is part of the same workflow.

Early signs from Premium suppliers

Participating Premium suppliers have shown greater willingness to extend credit to agents whose default risk is covered, and agents have benefited from reduced collateral requirements and improved working capital efficiency.
